Let’s Talk about Acne.

(Almost) everyone has been there waking up and seeing a bright red (unwanted) friend find a home on their face. So how do we prevent, treat and manage acne? Well, the first step is to understand our skin.

Every day our skin is exposed to pollutants, bacteria, stressors and more to protect our internal organ systems so it’s almost a given our skin can react in some sort of inflammatory response i.e. Acne

In addition to this routine, sheet masks can provide a quick and easy way to deliver targeted ingredients to the skin. Look for masks that are specifically formulated for acne-prone skin and contain ingredients like tea tree oil or snail mucin, which can help soothe and heal acne-prone skin.

Overall, a routine for acne-prone skin emphasises gentle, non-irritating ingredients, thorough cleansing, and hydration to help keep acne at bay and promote healthy, clear skin.

Acne Tips

Double cleansing

Use an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup and sunscreen, followed by a gentle water-based cleanser to remove dirt and impurities from the skin.

Use a toner to rebalance the skin's pH and prepare it for the next steps in the routine. Look for a toner that is gentle and free of alcohol (alchol based toners can dry out the skin and exacerbate acne).

Treatment products

Use acne-fighting products, such as a spot treatment or serum, to address specific areas of concern. Look for products containing ingredients like salicylic acid, tea tree oil, and niacinamide, which are known to be effective in treating acne.

Hydrating products

Apply lightweight serums or essences to provide hydration to the skin without clogging pores.

Finish the routine with a moisturiser that is lightweight and non-greasy, yet provides enough hydration to prevent the skin from becoming dry and flaky.

Sun Protection

C'mon my beauty enthusiasts, do I really need to mention sun protection x
